CLASSES & MILONGAS

 

Compadrito Tango runs weekly classes, workshops, private classes and tango clubs (milongas)  in Dublin and other locations around Ireland. We also occasionally travel to other countries to teach at Tango Festivals and other events.

Classes & Workshops

 

Saturday: Intro to Tango- Workshop for Absolute Beginners- 1.30-4pm, €20

Learn to dance tango in one day! This workshop teaches the fundamentals  (posture, technique, leader/follower roles) and basic steps of Tango. Participants will be able to dance by the end of the workshop. And if they wish, they can further develop their tango skills by attending the weekly classes or higher level workshop. Partner not required. Please book in advance.

Tuesday: 4-week evening course for Absolute Beginners-, 7pm-8.30pm, 40

These are complete classes that cover the fundamentals and basic steps of Tango dancing. Posture, technique, leader/follower roles, style and attitude, musicality, elementary steps and combinations. Participants will be able to dance by the end of the course and  will progress to the next level (see Thursday classes). Partner not required. Please book in advance.

Thursday: Evening drop-in classes for Improvers and Advanced- 7.30pm-8.45pm, 10 (price includes entrance to tango club after the class)

The class starts with a conditioning session and technique work. The teachers will then demonstrate intermediate/advanced combinations. Elements of floor skills (use of dance floor space and Tango etiquette) and musicality are also taught throughout the class. Partner not required.

Milonga (Tango Club)

Thursday: 9pm-11pm. 5

Milongas originated in Buenos Aires but now exist in practically every country around the world. A milonga is a traditional tango club (Buenos Aires style) where dancers of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities meet to share a dance and chat in a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Everybody is welcome!

We host the best tango DJs in the country and also occasionally offer live music. See this video

Complimentary snacks are served throughout the evening.

Currently we teach regular classes and workshops in Bray, Cork and Waterford.

Private and corporate classes

 

We offer private tuition to both individuals and couples who wish to learn or improve their tango skills.  We also prepare couples for their wedding First Dance.
